1,026 DAYS!

That's how long Josh Gledhill was unemployed before landing two data job offers in 30 days.

Crazy, right? But here's the wild part, he bombed one interview so bad he couldn't even explain a simple VLOOKUP. Still got the offer.

Most people would've given up after 100 days. Maybe 200. Definitely by day 500.

But Josh kept grinding. And the way he finally broke through will surprise you.

The Long Game Nobody Is Willing to Play

While everyone was panic applying, Josh built something you cannot ignore.

He followed a simple path I love to teach. The SPN method:

  • Skills. He learned Python, SQL, Power BI. Step by step.

  • Portfolio. He made real projects. Not just certificates.

  • Network. But not the way you think…

Most people hide in courses and network by asking for favors.

Josh networked by giving value.

Here's where it gets weird…

He did it in front of 10,000+ people….

The Secret Multiplier: Building in Public

Josh did something genius.

He posted on Threads every single day about what he was learning.

Not as an expert. As a student.

"Hey, I just learned what a P-value is. Here's what it means..."

"Failed my mock interview today. Here's what I learned…"

Thousands started following his journey.

Including recruiters. Including me.

This wasn't networking. It was documentation.

But documentation IS networking when you do it right.

He also did something else kinda crazy…

He Printed His Portfolio. All 40 Pages.

Josh walked into his interview with a 40-page binder of printed dashboards, visualizations, and analyses.

Who does that?

Most people don’t have ANY portfolio.

Josh came with the evidence stacked in his favor.

Good thing too because he completely bombed the technical portion of the interview.

Couldn't even do a basic VLOOKUP. His brain just froze.

But it didn't matter. The portfolio had already sold them.

Why Most People Lose Before They Start

Most job seekers do this:

  1. Watch some tutorials

  2. Apply to 100 jobs

  3. Get rejected

  4. Give up

Josh did this:

  1. Learn consistently

  2. Build proof while learning

  3. Share the journey publicly

  4. Let opportunities come to him

This is the roadmap. This is the SPN Method.

What This Really Means

Hiring feels like a bet for the company, and your goal is to make the bet feel safe.

Because when someone opens your LinkedIn or resume, they're asking:

“Can this person really do the job?”

Josh made the answer obvious.

He got hired in spite of bombing an interview.

Because everything else screamed: “This guy puts in the work.”

Here's what you can do today:

Build your proof stack:

  • Pick ONE project. Make it excellent.

  • Document it. Screenshots, process, results.

Start your public journal:

  • Post what you learned today. Anywhere.

  • Don't teach. Just share.

  • Do it for 30 days straight.

Play the long game:

  • Skills compound over time

  • Portfolios accumulate value

  • Networks grow exponentially

Remember:

Josh went from teaching music → 1,026 days unemployed → 2 job offers.

Not because he was the smartest. But because he was the most persistent.

And persistence with proof is unstoppable.

How many days are you willing to wait for your breakthrough?

PS: The SPN Method Josh used is exactly what I teach in my Data Analytics Accelerator program. But honestly? You can do all this yourself. But if you want peers, a step-by-step guide, and constant support, consider our next cohort.
